Elegant Elbe – October – 2013 – Saxon Switzerland,Germany and Czech Republic

Oct. 9 – Day 7 – Saxon Switzerland, Germany and Decin, Chech Republic – Today we are sailing through magnificent scenery along a stretch of the Elbe River. There are dramatic cliffs and sandstone formations.

We are docked in Bad Schandau. We took the tour up to the top of 656-foot tall Bastei and viewed the river and the narrow valleys and deep gorges.

We sail in the afternoon for the town of Decin in the Czech Republic.

We are still cruising and we arrive will arrive in Litomerice. We cruised through the area of Puerto Bohemia arriving in Litomerice in the afternoon.

My wife and I took seperate side trips today. She went to St Stephenn’s Cathedral and the historic Market Square.

I went to the town of Terezin in the Czech Republic. It was used as a jewish ghetto by the Gestapo. This I believe was used as a model prison camp to fool the red cross during World War II.

A good book to read about East Germany and its secrets is Stasi Land.
