We spent the day sailing from Bali on a grey sea. The rain followed us for some time with blustering winds.

We went to the library and read for a few hours. Then went for a nap. Life is good.

Monday March 13, 2024 – The Riau Islands

We just passed the Riau Islands.

The Riau Islands is a province of Indonesia. The capital is Tanjung Pinang. The islands are famous for world class accommodations and leisure activities in Bantam, Bintan and in several private islands. They became a part of the Republic of Indonesia in 1950.

They were occupied by the Japanese during WW ll.

They were part of the Johor Sultanate and never federated into Malaysia.

They are 8,432 miles from Los Angeles.
