Oct.3, 2024 – Kigali, Rwanda – Day 2

Do you know of the Dutch painter, Escher?

He painted with mathematics in mind. He drew perfect stairways with many twisted paths, many upside down and leading to nowhere.

Apparently he designed this hotel, or so it seems.

There is a central shaft in The Lemigo Hotel where the stairway is situated. Many rooms and hallways branch off of it and then those hallways turn into dark dead ends. It is odd but interesting at the end of the day.

I have been bewildered here a few times in as many days.

I see people walking around with that look on their faces telling me that they have no idea where they are, have been or where they are headed.

I say, ” welcome to the club.”

The views from our room are wonderful. The mountains are off in the distance and it rains every night with loud thunder. We see that seldom at home in California.

We are still waiting to meet our tour leader but time will tell. I have met a few fellow travelers who aren’t in our group and a few who are. We are group of two men and five women.

Some live in California and some have in the past. Others come from the eastern part of the United States. Two more travelers will join us in Kenya.

The rough draft of my now completed novel, “The Bad Seed” is in the travel section of my website. It turned out to be an interesting detective story with a cast of special characters.

We have a trio of characters in this story. One woman with CIA connections from the past. But is a CIA operative ever free from working for and with them? She is already on a mission and not to be stopped.

One character is a retired detective with his family now in danger from a drug cartel. He is bored and looking for something exciting to fill his time. His wife is happy with her life as it is now. One fellow is an Uber Driver with a military past in Iraq. They all have skills and time on their hands. What could go wrong? Plenty.

Don’t forget to look for my novels on Audible. One is a book of short stories called “Sunrise, Sunset,” and my ancient Asian adventure romance novel is “Kazu, son of Oshida Kamasaki.

My photos will be coming soon but there are videos of this African adventure and others on Facebook at R.C. Hand
