Posted Oct. 20, 2024 – Day 7, Sept. 10 – Masi Mara National Reserve.

We went out again today to see the animals. Some folks have gone on a hot air balloon flight. We did that in Australia and so will go out to see the animals again.

We are soon surrounded by hundreds of thousands of animals. Lions wait in the shade to see an unweary animal pass by. Sadly they will become the meal for the day. Antelopes and all types of animals pass by in a parade of nature.

We see what appears to be mountains off in the distance, but as we drive closer, they are not mountains but elephants walking across the flat land and heading to the river’s edge for a frolic or drink. They grab the red dirt with their trunks and blow it all over themselves after their bath. It is an interesting sight to see.

Some lions set near the river and the edge of the road. They are huge. Their feet nearly as big as an elephant’s foot or so it seems. They sleep in the grass after a fine meal of zebra or antelope. Yes, nature can seem cruel to us who live in the modern world and never see where our food comes from.

The lions are nearly impossible to see as they walk in the tall grass. We spotted a few out hunting. They are almost as green as the dry grass that they stride through, or so it seems. They are determined and if they have their sights set on you, you are doomed.

Today we will drive back to the lodge for a fine lunch.
