Day 18- More game viewing across the Serengeti.
We went out again to day to see the migration of the many animals around us. We are in the middle of it, no doubt. The mornings can be cold but soon become comfortable. The excitement of the days adventures quickly warm us up.
Wherever we look, we are surrounded by animals of all types. Some are unseen. I’m speaking about the lion, of course.
They are hard to see at the best of times, but when they are in high grass and moving slowly, they are nearly invisible. Of course the lion’s prey have better eyesight than we humans, but they still end up as lunch for the lions and other carnivores. It is the way of nature.
After eating, the lions lie where they wish and snooze the day away. It is similar to my life now that I am retired.
Tonight is the last night in camp and we will have our final meal here. We have had a grand time and seen many wonderful and memorable things.
Tomorrow we fly to Arusha where one stop will be Shanga, a craft center and store where handicapped people recycle glass and other items to make fine works of art. They weave there as well. They have a gift shop where you might purchase items of their creation that will help support them.
I cannot express the beauty of this land with words. One must come here and experience it for your self. If you love to travel, Africa must be on your list of destinations. We have had everything a traveler wants or needs. The people have all been wonderful.
Our cooks, guides and drivers have become friends and we will miss them when we head home.
We have slept in fine hotels and in nice permanent tents with all the amenities. We have eaten in nice restaurants and had great meals in our camps.
We have seen wild beasts in the far distance and close at hand. We have even had a few animals in our rooms. Not always a pleasant surprise, but a surprise, none the less.
Don’t forget that “Sunrise, Sunset” and “Kazu, son of Oshida Kamasaki” are now available on Audible for your listening enjoyment.
As always, thanks for stopping by. My last installment of this trip will be up soon. It will be a little exciting than expected.
