Oct. 4, 2025 – “Joe in Africa”

I have a lot more writing on this book done but this is just a little taste that I promised. More later today and tomorrow.

Chapter ?

Charlene once thought she might become a writer. That’s why she took a job in this tall building in the center of New York, after all. There were several publishers in it and in this part of New York. She hoped that at some point she would have something to show them.

The years passed as they do and her long term dream of writing a novel sat as a half finished short story up in the recesses of her closet as many unfinished projects do.

She had a head full of ideas but no will power to put them on paper in a coherent form. That is what writing is she told here self, more than once as she brooded about her lack of determination. “I have no will power when it comes to writing.” She was right about that.

As usual, the dreams we have at one point in our lives eventually mature into something else. Her dream now was to marry someone with a good job so she might start her novel again. At the moment that looked highly unlikely

That’s when Joe’s life fell apart and he became available.

“There is a god, after all,” she thought.

If she could stop working, her dreams of a book of some sort might still become a reality. She was now willing to settle for that, but she did truly love Joe.

Her dream now was to marry Joe, help him with his career and perhaps jump start her’s as well. “If he made good at writing his travel book, being his wife would give her a head start,” or so she thought.

Chad and Susan took the escalator up to the first class lounge. Susan loved the idea of how she would live now as the escalator climbed higher. It was a metaphor for her. She was done with scrimping and saving every dime to make ends meet.

The thought of a future of wealth and privilege was the reason Susan had started looking for a new partner, after all. She had what was highly sought after and she make it work for her. It was that simple. If a girl didn’t do that, she deserved what she got as a husband and life.

She didn’t see Joe working his way up very quickly to where he needed to be to keep her in the style that she wanted to become accustomed to. He was just Joe. Safe, but not having the drive or ambition that matched hers.

She had matured over the last year or the image of love had matured as well. So she had started making plans and dating without Joe suspecting.

A thought was continually coming into her head. “Joe isn’t going to get you where you want to be, no matter how long he works at it.” She saw him as an honest man but without real prospects. She would be a fool to stay and be unsatisfied, and take it out on him. His lust for wealth simply didn’t match her’s.

His lust for her was obvious, but many men lusted after her. That was a given in her mind and it was true. She knew she had made a mistake accepting Joe’s marriage proposal but the excitement of the moment had made her forget her ultimate goal, temporarily.

New Chapter ?

Three men followed Chad and Susan into the airport.

There job was to see who contacted them, to see if they contacted anyone and to make sure they got on their plane to Kigali, Rwanda. Their trip was to last three weeks. That would give the authorities the time to work on others under suspicion in this case.

The FBI, New York’s Finest and the FTC were now working together to land Cha’d’s father, Chad and his younger brother and as many employees as possible in their wide net.

This case was going to be a big one and it was getting bigger everyday that passed. They were hoping the younger brother would roll over on the rest of the family and the company.

These cases needed to be brought every decade or so to remind the financial community that, “yes, the government is watching you,” though it didn’t look like that was the case.

It was too big of a job for one agency and like most of government agencies, it didn’t work very well. Hence, examples had to be made now and then as a reminder for the large and small corporations to behave.

Remember to come to TIKTOC at R.C. Hand 22252 for many more travel photos.
