More of Chapter Sixteen
Their brokerage firm had made millions over the last few years. Now with this friends company going public, he and his father’s company had cashed in big time.
Suzan looked out across the park to the bright lights on the other side and felt as warm inside as her feet.
“I think one hundred seats will be enough for my side, Chad.” “Fine, let’s make it five hundred for the two of us then. I have a large family and some of my coworkers along with my friends and my parents friends will fill up the rest. You might come up with more you might invite as time passes, don’t you think?”
“Oh Chad, I do love you. You think of everything. My imagination has been limited by my upbringing and my families financial circumstances. Your family does things on a grand scale, there is no doubt about that.” Chad just listened and smiled.
“So we need a place big enough for five hundred or so people to view the nuptials and for the party after. Where might we find a place like that? Do you want to be in a church or outside?”
“Outside,” was Suzan’s quick answer.
Chad picked up his phone and checked the weather. “The next two weeks are supposed to hve perfect weather.”
“Will never be able to find a nice place in two weeks Chad,” was Suzan’s reply.
“Do you want my mother to help? She has a list of friends that will make your head spin. She does parties like this all the time. Do you want me to call her?”
“Oh God Chad, could you?”
“Sure. And since you want it outside, I think I know the perfect place.”
“That would be wonderful.”
Chad took put his phone from his worn Levi’s and pressed a button. He had dialed his mother’s home.
“Hello, this is the William’s residence,” a woman’s voice answered.
“Hello Sylvia, this is Chad, is my mother there?” “Yes, she just came home from golfing with your father. I’ll tell her you wish to speak with her.” In a few moments, Chad’s mother was on the line.
“Hello Chad darling, how are you?”
“Fine mother, we need a favor.” “Anything son, what is it?”
“Well, we have settled on the number for the guest list and now we need a planner and a venue that suits us and we need it in just two weeks.”
“Not a problem son. Manny can help us. He owes us a favor or two. This will be easy for him. Let me grap a paper and pencil. Fire away. What’s the number of guests you were thinking of?”
“It’s going to be five hundred or so.”
Well, that narrows it down a bit but I can think of a three estates of friends near by that come to mind, instantly. They will all fit the bill. Have you thought of who your best man will be?” “Yes, Charlie Higgins, of course.”
“Well, let me call his mother and see if she would like to have the wedding at their place. Their estate would be perfect.”
“Thanks mom, I hadn’t thought of that.”
“I’ll make a couple of calls Chad. Do we go formal or casual?”
Chad looked at Suzan and asked, “do we want a casual affair?”
“Formal I think. It’s our wedding after all.”
“Formal mother.” Chad’s mother heard Suzan’s answer over the phone in the background .”I love that Suzan. Great choice. Do it right or don’t do it, I always say. I’ll get back to you in twenty minutes or so.”
“So Suzan, it has ben handled. I’l guarantee that my mom will call back in twenty minutes with everything settled.”
“Oh Chad, this is wonderful. I was getting quite frustrated with all of the planning needed and on such short notice.

Yes, money can help to solve problems. But sometimes where the money came from is just as important.
Who said “I’ve been rich and poor and would I would rather be rich?”
