Chad and Suzan sat in the rear of the car. It was one of many cars that belonged to his father’s company.
There were fifty brokers working under Chad’s supervision. Another twenty-five worked under his younger brother. Chad only worked with the wealthiest clients that his father had long standing relationships with.
Chad’s father was slowing handing his work load over to his eldest son. Chad’s father had more money than he would ever need in banks across America and in many foreign countries as well.
One younger brother was still in college but would soon finish and take the test to become a licensed broker as well. When he passed the test, and there was no doubt that he would, in his father’s mind, he would be coming onto the business and soon be working with his brothers.
After the car stopped and the driver climbed out of the car, he waved for a porter standing near by. The walked around the car and opened the rear door. The car was filled with the aroma of leather and Suzan’s expensive perfume. The porter smiled as he pulled the luggage from the open trunk.
The expensive luggage suggested that a good tip might be in his future when all was finished. This town ran on tips for the most part. They weren’t suggested, they were expected and made the difference in peoples lives working in the service sector. The porter was careful with the luggage as he set each piece on his dolly.
Chad and Suzan walked from the car and across the wide sidewalk through the open glass doors into the airport followed by the porter and made their way to the first class check in line.
They were dressed in the finest clothing. Chad’s suit cost over six-thousand-dollars. Suzan’s outfit was less expensive but she stood out just as much as Chad. They looked like jet setters to others, without a doubt.
They stood second in line behind a man with a British accent. He was obviously an ambassador or business man of some African country once colonized by England, or so Suzan thought. His accent was impossible to miss. As the airline agent finished with him, he slowly walked away.
Then Chad and Suzan moved up to the front of the line. Suzan and Chad then took out their matching leather travel folders filled with all of their travel documents and laid them on the counter. The agent looked at Suzan’s documents first and quickly. Then she looked at Chad’s. She seemed to give Chad a special glance as she slowly looked over his passport.
Suzan caught the woman’s look but said nothing. “Was she memorizing Chad’s address?” Suzan wondered. This happened often when she was with Chad. He was obviously wealthy and attractive and people noticed him, especially women.
“Have a wonderful trip Mr. Williams,” the attractive woman said as they walked away. She didn’t even look at Suzan.
They walked quickly off toward the TSA security check in line and were through it rather quickly. Suzan was happy about that. She hated being cooped up with so many strangers, “like a bunch of chickens,” she had said more than once while traveling.
The first class lounge was nearby now and upstairs beyond the slow moving escalators.
Joe looked down at the cars passing below him out in a light snowfall as he ate. He saw a beautiful white Bentley pass under him and wondered with awe at who might be in it. Joe couldn’t see the occupants of the car as it soon ran under the long protruding roof that ran above the international flight unloading area of the airport.
Charlene made her way to the first class line and checked in for her flight. All went smoothly and she was soon heading up the escalator to the waiting first class lounge.
Chad and Suzan were well ahead of her on the escalator and she hadn’t noticed them. She had other things on her mind now. The first part of her dream had come true.
Charlene saw Joe below her eating at a small table alone. When she reached the top of the escalator she simply headed back down to the surprise of two women seated at the front desk of the lounge in front of her.
She went back down and found a seat in the waiting area for their flight that Joe would have to pass by to sit and wait for their departure. She waved him down as he walked in her direction. Their was plenty of time before their flight was scheduled to leave.
