We have arrived at the Lemigo Hotel in Kigali, Rwanda after a seven and half hour flight.
There is no representative from our tour company here. However, we are a few days early so that isn’t unexpected.
The staff is friendly and helpful, though they have no idea about our guide. Usually someone at the hotel knows something about the tours coming through it. This may be a harbinger of things to come. We hope not. We are in a different place in the world, obviously, so anything is possible.
We are checked in and have looked around. The building is circular and many stories tall. It is easy to get lost in here. There is a fine pool, restaurant and bar. Many businessmen seem to be coming through here.
The country is very mountainous and the view from the plane in flight was of many valleys filled with lights of towns or perhaps cities.
Rwanda is a former colony of Belgium. The French did cultivate a close relationship with Rwanda after their independence in 1962. The French were the worst at leaving their colonies in chaos when they had finally taken everything of value and gone home. Perhaps Rwanda was lucky in this regard.
The weather is perfect.
I will put more up this afternoon. I’m off to play tennis this morning.
