More of Chapter Nine
She hadn’t lived there full time but she might as well have. She had in moved much of her wardrobe and other bits and necessities. She spent several nights a week there, but kept her own place, “just in case, she had told Joe.
That had worked well until she went all in with Chad Williams. It made it harder for Joe to keep track of her though he didn’t think he had to.
That night with Chad was as easy as stealing candy from a baby. “Men are so easy Suzan thought,” as she had had he first date with Chad. She wore her best trolling outfit and put on a smile. The first date went very well. It was obvious that Chad hadn’t been with a woman for sometime. He mentioned his work schedule at his father’s brokerage firm. Suzan knew it would be an easy task to bring him into her bed whenever she wanted. “How many men fight to miss that opportunity?” she reminded herself, “none.” The trick was not to look too interested or desperate.
She wasn’t desperate, that was for certain. She had many men in her circle interested in her but had put them on hold when she foolishly settled on Joe.
Two dinners out on the town at Lutece and The Quilted Giraffe went very well, indeed. The third date to the movies and then a few drinks at Dante’s went well. Then after some uncomfortable small talk, they ended up back at her place for a night of fun and an interesting, sexual, interlude. She hoped that the next time would be at his place.
She knew he overlooked Central park but wasn’t sure on which street. She figured it was Central Park West. There were many apartments situated along Central Park on that avenue. After that escaped, the relationship had been consummated, in more ways than one.
Chad Williams was single, upwardly mobile and had a drive that she thought Joe lacked. She had made her move and decision. Now she just had to wait for Chad to do the same. It didn’t take long. He called her back that night when he arrived home. “I want to see you again, soon.”
“Sure Chad, but I’m a busy lady with work and all.” She let the last part of the sentence hang in the air. Chad Frowned and thought. “Well, when will I be able to see you again?”
“I might make a few adjustments to my schedule if you make it worth my while,” she teased. “I’ll take you any you want, just name it. Cost isn’t an issue.” “Well, let set a date for next week end while I think about where you will take me.” “Great Suzan, we’ll go anywhere you want in the state.” “Bye Chad, talk to you in a few days with the answer.
She told Joe the next night that she was leaving him for good. She let him have a few extra drinks to soften the blow and to make her silent escape easier. He was too drunk to clearly understand what was being said when they got to his apartment. They argued some more and then he passed out for sometime. Suzan had started the fight for no reason to make her escape feel better.
When Joe woke up and remembered what she had said and what that meant, his world instantly crumbled.
It had crumb led long before the conciliatory phone call from a mutual female friend of Noe and Suzan’s, named Marsha, the next morning in his office.
Charlene buzzed Joe’s office. “You have a Marsha Kent on line one Mr. Monroe.” “Thanks Charlene, I’ll take it. We need to talk later on by the way, Charlene.”
Charlene’s heart skipped a beat with anticipation.
