We are free today to get acclimatized to our new time zone and location. We are staying at the Dostyk Hotel.

We are a little worse for wear after the long flight to Istanbul and then on to Almaty. It was a five hour flight from Istanbul to here.

We are not in California anymore.

The architecture is different, yet familiar. California has the architectural influence of the Spanish who were influenced by their occupation by the Arabs.
